Homeys

Improvement of user experience, optimization of internal processes, and creation of marketing assets

Product Designer — Design team-of-one — Homeys

SaaSProduct DesignDesign System2022-2025
Context
Homeys is a B2B software for professionals and companies, with +400 users. It centralizes and analyzes all consumption data to reduce costs, optimize performance, and ensure compliance. When I arrived at Homeys in 2022, there was no product department nor design culture—only data engineers, developers, and sales people working in silos.
My Role
Structuring the design approach and steering the complete UX/UI cycle — from user research to iteration, including conception, prototyping, and testing — with a strong responsibility for product vision and consistency on the design side. In parallel, creation of graphic visuals for marketing assets (website visuals, LinkedIn, conversion supports, newsletter, etc.)
Challenges
Catching up on UX/UI debt on existing software without a redesign project & Instilling a product and design culture by implementing agile methodology and sprints.
Strategy & Results
Resolving UX/UI debt: Product audit, user research, and progressive management of debt via prioritization of key journeys and continuous testing.
→ Result: Increased retention and conversion.
Instilling a product & design culture: Implementing agile method and UX/UI rituals (workshops, testing, prototyping) to structure collaboration.
→ Result: Facilitated communication and accelerated decision-making.
Design thus became a strategic lever, making the product more intuitive and teams more efficient, fostering business growth (MRR increase, churn decrease).
Retrospective
This was a rich learning ground where I learned to navigate between creativity and constraints while consolidating my methodology. This experience forged me: it taught me to defend my ideas, make compromises, collaborate closely with development, marketing, and sales teams, while navigating budgetary, temporal, and human constraints (small team). As the sole designer in the company, I learned to adapt working methods to the specific needs of each project, without ever compromising their quality.

Key contributions

1

Creation of the company's first Design System without a redesign project

Objective

Unify visual language and interface consistency in the face of a fragmented approach.

Actions implemented

  • Creation and implementation of the company's first Design System, accelerating development cycles during the first year.
  • Migration of the application using a UI component library for the Vue.js framework, adapted to product needs (creation of specific components) and the company's visual identity.

Results

  • Optimization of design and development process efficiency: faster with fewer iterations.
2

Agile resorption of UX/UI debt via a prioritization strategy

Objective

Reduce the application's UX/UI debt, which affected user experience and contributed to a retention rate drop.

Actions implemented

  • Implementation of a system to manage UX/UI debt progressively, lacking resources for a complete redesign.
  • Assessment of existing problems and prioritization of those with the greatest impact on user experience and KPIs.
  • Incremental improvements on key journeys: onboarding, adding meters/buildings, and improving meter information page.
  • Close collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and Tech teams to ensure smooth integration of adjustments.
  • Regular user testing to validate improvements made.

Results

  • Progressive reduction of UX/UI debt, more intuitive and consistent interfaces/journeys, improving user experience: regular positive feedback, lower churn, and more autonomous users.
3

Implementation of product & design culture in internal processes - Workshop design and facilitation

Objective

Create a common language understandable by different team poles.

Actions implemented

  • Visual and participatory reflection workshops (Crazy 8)
  • Design sprints and rapid prototyping sessions to test ideas and integrate user feedback (Cut & Paste Flow Mapping, UI sorting)
  • Empathy Mapping to align the team on user feelings, needs, and frustrations, and guide design choices through shared understanding.

Results

  • More efficient design process.
  • Strengthening of collaborative innovation.
  • Constant consideration of market and user needs.
4

De-complexified visualization of energy data and accelerating devs without losing quality

Objective

Improve design and development of charts to simplify energy data visualization while maintaining quality, as this is essential for the business.

Actions implemented

  • Analysis of client feedback to identify missing and superfluous elements in existing charts.
  • Integration of an interactive data visualization library to create dynamic, customizable, and high-quality charts.
  • Improvement of chart ergonomics by adjusting colors and contrast levels to respect accessibility criteria.

Results

  • Simplification of energy data visualization, reducing time needed to understand information.
  • Acceleration of chart development thanks to using an existing library, allowing focus on user experience.
5

Optimization of digital presence and creation of Deck for fundraising

Objective

Improve the company's online visibility and support fundraising efforts.

Actions implemented

  • Complete redesign of the showcase website to better reflect value proposition and brand identity.
  • Creation of a striking and visually consistent Pitch Deck for investor presentations.
  • Development of marketing materials (brochures, presentations) aligned with new visual identity.

Results

  • increased website traffic and improved conversion rate.
  • Positive feedback from investors on Pitch Deck clarity and professionalism.
  • Strengthening of company brand image in the market.
